Profile in The Times on Clare McGlynn’s mission to expose extreme porn

I was delighted to be featured in The Times in a thoughtful and wide-ranging interview by award-winning journalist Janice Turner. The piece reflects on more than two decades of my work on pornography regulation, online abuse, and violence against women and girls, while also discussing themes from my new book Exposed which Janice says ‘fizzes with righteous rage’ We talked about the personal and professional challenges of this work, the threats I’ve faced, but the determination to carry on challenging the silence on these issues. 

We discussed my work to criminalise rape pornography, my research on the content of online pornography and the recent law reforms on strangulation and incest. We also talked about why so many young women now describe violent sexual acts as something expected rather than exceptional — and what it means to resist that culture. Focusing on the future, I shared my concerns about the failures of major tech and porn platforms to protect women and girls online.
